Lego EV3 Robot DraftsMan: Gyro Sensor and Turn by precise angles

Packet consists: step-by-step building instruction in pdf format; example program in EV3-G language with comments; a robot playing fields for printing (7 and 5 points).

In this work you need to assemble (build) a model of a Draftsman from Lego Education EV3 Core Set (45544). The robot can turn to a precise angle using a gyroscopic sensor.

With this model it is possible to study gyroscopic sensor operation and learn to control the robot’s rotations to a given angle. The robot is designed to produce different drawings and drawings on a level surface. In the EV3 rover design two large motors are used. Medium Motor is used in the mechanism of raising and lowering the marker. To fix the marker, you’ll need a pencil elastic.

You can adjust the position of the marker so that its tip in the lower position coincides with the rotation axis of the robot. When you turn in place, the angles are flat. You can use two ways to program turns on a given angle. The first is to experimentally learn the significance of the wheel angle on a large motor encoder. The second is to connect the gyro sensor and rotate according to its counter (readings).
